Course Description

 

FRENCH 
 
 
Year 7 
 
 
In their first year of French, the pupils develop four skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing within the areas Self, Family, Describing People, School, Free Time, House and Home.
 
 
Year 8 
 
 
In their second year of French, the pupils develop the four skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing within the areas of activities, daily routines, health, food + drink, Paris and holidays. 
 
 
Year 9 
 
 
In Year 9 Pupils cover the following topics - Personal Details - Routine and Going Out - Descriptions - Food and Drink - Visit to Paris - Holidays.  Equal weighting is given each skill area. 
 
 
Year 10 
 
 
The course covers all four communications skills.  The language taught is that needed for everyday communication. Listening (20%)Speaking (30%) – consisting of two recorded conversationsReading (20%)Writing (30%) - consisting of two written pieces under controlled conditions 
 
 
Year 11 
 
 
The course covers all four communications skills, equal weighting being given to each.  The language taught is that needed for everyday communication. Listening (25%) Speaking (25%) – consisting of Role Play Presentation and discussion Conversation (6 topics) Reading (25%) Coursework (25%) 
 
 
GERMAN 
 
 
Year 7 
 
 
In their first year of German, the pupils develop the four skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing within the areas of personal information, school, family and free time. 
 
 
Year 8 
 
 
In their first year of German, the pupils develop the four skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing within the areas of introduction, personal information, school, clothes, sport and home. 
 
 
Year 9 
 
 
In Year 9 Pupils cover the following topics: House and Home - Town - Snacks - Holidays - Travel - The Past Tense.  Equal weighting is given to each skill area.   
 
 
Year 10
