Course Description
Year 7
Pupils in Year 7 follow the National Numeracy Framework, which covers work on number, algebra, shape and space and data handling. They will extend and develop skills they learned at key stage 2 through a mix of mental and oral work, interactive teaching and problem solving.
Year 8
In year 8 we follow the National Numeracy Strategy Framework this including work in Number, Algebra, Shape and Space and Data Handling. All lessons include mental and oral work, interactive teaching and learning and problem solving. Pupils are encouraged to explain their work and their methods/solutions. Where appropriate, pupils are introduced to elements of Citizenship that relate to the mathematics curriculum.
Year 9
Mathematical skills are recorded at all times in the classroom and in all aspects of the curriculum. Pupils are taught to understand and use numbers including estimation and approximation, interpreting and checking results. They are encouraged to recognise and use symbolic and graphical presentation to express patterns and relationships. Pupils investigate 2 and 3 dimensional shapes and use measurement, location and transformation in the study fo space. They are given the opportunity to collect, process and interpret information and are taught to understanding, estimate and use probabilities.
Year 10
Throughout their course pupils have covered work on Number, Algebra, Shape and Space and Data Handling. They have chosen and made use of their knowledge, skills and understanding in practical tasks, real life problems and investigated within Maths itself. They have developed their mathematical knowledge, oral, written and practical skills in a manner which encourages confidence.
Year 11
Throughout their course pupils have covered work on Number, Algebra, Shape and Space and Data Handling. They have chosen and made use of their knowledge, skills and understanding in practical tasks, real life problems and investigated within Maths itself. They have developed their mathematical knowledge, oral, written and practical skills in a manner which encourages confidence.
