Course Description
Year 7 Pupils are encouraged to listen to one another and then asked to take part in group discussions. On many occasions they are given the opportunity to debate and develop arguments on a variety of issues and topics. To improve their reading, pupils can choose from a large range of material suited to their age and ability, and it is hoped that they gain much pleasure from this. They are taught to write clearly and accurately, using correct spellings and punctuation. Pupils learn to draft and revise work and are taught a wide range of grammatical rules. The Drama course in Year 7 involved pupils in investigating a range of topics and issues through various methods and forms. In Drama, we aim to develop confidence, creativity and sensitivity. Pupils are encouraged to widen their understanding of values and cultural change, as well as improving their physical and perceptual skills. The communication of ideas and an understanding of Drama form and technique is worked towards, together with the ability of evaluate work.

Year 10
In this course pupils are studying two full GCSEs in English Language and English Literature. Both GCSEs require pupils to demonstrate skills in listening, talking, reading and writing. Pupils must convey their ideas, knowledge, feelings and points of view on a range of literature as well as responding critically to non-fiction and media texts. These skills are evaluated through examination and coursework. Year 11
